Hi, I’m Madison Cole, the writer and editor behind One Woman Style. I started this site because I was tired of outfit inspiration that looked great on a mood board and fell apart in real life: shoes you can’t walk in, layers that don’t survive the weather, and “effortless” looks that take ten items you don’t own.
What I write about
I focus on occasion-based outfits: what to wear for a specific place, event or kind of day. That includes travel and destination looks (my Nashville series covers everything from honky-tonks to fall weekends), dinner and date-night outfits, going-out looks, airport outfits, modest styling and a lot of ways to make leggings look intentional.
I also write for women who are often left out of trend content, with guides for women over 40 and over 50 and for petite frames, because good style doesn’t have an age limit or a height requirement.
How I put a guide together
- Start with the setting. Weather, how much walking you’ll do, the dress code and the time of day come before any trend.
- Build from basics. Most outfits use staples like denim, a good boot, a neutral knit and a structured layer, so you can recreate them without a shopping spree.
- Explain the why. Each look includes the styling logic (proportion, color, texture) so you can swap pieces and still get the effect.
- Keep it honest. If a piece is uncomfortable, overpriced or hard to style, I’ll say so.
My style philosophy
Comfort first, polish second, trends third. I believe one woman can have many styles: casual on a Saturday, sharp at work, a little bold on a night out. The goal of this site is to help you feel like yourself in all of them.
